Renee Kathleen Zellweger
Renee Kathleen Zellweger was born on the
25th of April 1969, in Katy, Texas, Her mother Kjellfrid Irene (Andreassen), is
a former nurse from Norway and midwife. She is of Norwegian, Kven (Finnish) and
Swedish descent. Emil Erich Zellweger, her father, is a Swiss-born engineer.
They were married in 1963. Drew Zellweger was Renee's older brother. He is an
executive in the field of marketing who was born on the 15th of February 1967.
While working in the drama club, Renee became interested in acting. In Austin
she also took an acting class and began to consider acting as a career. She
wanted to be an actor after she graduated, but Hollywood isn't easy to make it
into. Renee decided not to quit Texas and auditioned in Houston to be cast in
roles. Matthew McConaughey was another Hollywood newcomer she met while filming
Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2: The Next Generation (1994). Renee observed him on a
project which was of interest to her. She was a part-time auditioner and was
offered the role in Love and A.45 (1994). The role brought her critical acclaim
and a decision to move to Los Angeles. Then, she was offered a role in The
Whole Wide World (1996), which gave her the first major break. Cameron Crowe
was busy with casting Jerry Maguire (1996) starring Tom Cruise. Crowe was
looking into actresses like Bridget Fonda (Camden Diaz), Winona Ryder (Winona
Ryder), and Marisa Tomei. Then he discovered Zellweger's performance on The
Whole Wide World (1996). He auditioned Zellweger and was convinced the actress
was the perfect Dorothy Boyd. Renee followed her huge success by releasing a
couple of independent films. After receiving further critical praise, she felt
confident enough to return to the realm of large-budget Hollywood films. Meryl
Streep starred with her in One True Thing (1998). Also, she acted in Me, Myself
& Irene (2000) with Jim Carrey, and soon after, she began to date Jim
Carrey. as the lead in Bridget Jones's Diary (2001).
